Dualita

A Lounge Chair and Coffee Table Set designed for Infiniti's Green Factor Contest. The set makes use of an I-Beam profile to reduce weight and create an interesting detail to the collection. It also makes use of a wood joinery which eliminates the use of metal or plastic hardware such as screws or nails. The two-toned appearance is the result of using part wood and part MDF to make this sculpted/ molded look. The wood scraps made from sculpting the I-Beam profile will be used in a mold to make the other side of the chair with dye creating a piece that makes efficient use of material. The name, "Dualita" comes from the word "Duality" as a reference to the two-toned appearance of both the chair and the table and as a reminder of the duality of production and that for something to be made, something else must be destroyed.
