Diletta

Diletta is a contest submission for the Luxy Chair Award 2018. Delight is the highest expression of pleasure and satisfaction. In life, we find delight not only in instances of grandeur but also in simple joys. Diletta seeks to capture the feeling of absolute delight. Diletta is a seating system composed of a molded cold-cured foam on a skeletal wooden frame with a perforated metal backing. Luxy is a “Made in Italy” Brand. What this implies is that Luxy has a heightened standard of Quality and Ethics and that they give importance to not just the ergonomic features (the body) of their products but also the emotional impact and feeling of the experience their products provide (the soul.) To mirror these values of the Luxy brand, the chair features an upholstered and padded wrap-around design for the back, which not only is meant for physical comfort but is also meant to simulate an embrace between the product and the user. The variety of materials involved in the making of the chair hints at Luxy’s quality as a “Made in Italy” brand. With upholstery options using genuine Italian leather and the finishing options of the bent wooden frame and of the perforated metal backing, Diletta calls to attention, the quality of the Italian workmanship and the abundance of material in Italian Furniture making. Luxy is also a brand that puts great importance in ecological and social sustainability. The perforated metal backing is not only a charming aesthetic detail but it also gives calls to attention the ability of metal to be recycled multiple times. The waste from perforation can be recycled and can decrease the amount of metal used in each panel by 10 to 40 percent. This reduction results in reduced weight, which results in reduced energy to transport the product. The Diletta Seat also has a number of configurations and finishes which heightens the degree of customization and the versatility of use. The Diletta system is applicable for both residential and commercial spaces, office and dining use and for waiting, lounging and working situations.
